A better shirt starts with the photo.

Ask whoever took the photo to send the original file. A screenshot of a social post can include interface elements, a smaller image, or extra compression. Open the original at full size and look at the eyes, hair, and edges of faces. If they are already blurred, choose another photo when you can.

A quiet background and even light make it easier to see the subject. For groups, look for a frame where every face is visible and roughly similar in size. A tiny person far behind the group is harder to keep recognizable in a small shirt design.
