PrintGen for Slack: privacy notes

These notes supplement the PrintGen Privacy Policy for the Slack app operated by Algorithmic Labs, LLC. They describe exactly what the app reads from Slack, what it keeps, for how long, and how AI is involved.

What the app reads

  • Messages that mention the app, the text of the /merch command, and direct messages sent to the app.
  • The member list of a channel the organizer names, to propose who gets a shirt.
  • Display names of the organizer and selected recipients. The app does not read email addresses.
  • Button clicks and form submissions inside the app's own messages and modals.
  • Links to PrintGen checkout and order pages, so they can be shown as cards.

The app does not read channel history, other conversations, or files unless a member shares a logo file directly with the app.

What the app stores

  • Your workspace id, the installing member's id, and the app's bot credentials, encrypted at rest.
  • Your company's brand kit: name, logo and colours read from the website you provide.
  • Each moment: the words you gave, the designs generated, and the chosen garment and colour.
  • Each recipient's Slack id and chosen size. Sizes are remembered so the next order needs no chasing.
  • Shipping addresses, when shipping to homes. They are encrypted at rest, used once to create that person's order, and removed from the collection record as soon as the order is created. They are never shown to the organizer.
  • Order and fulfilment status, so the thread can show production, shipping and delivery.

Retention and deletion

  • Uninstalling the app revokes its credentials immediately and stops all reading and posting.
  • Workspace data, remembered sizes and design history are deleted within 30 days of uninstall. Order records required for fulfilment, tax and accounting are retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • You can request deletion at any time by emailing contact@printgen.ai. We respond within two business days.

How AI is used

  • A language model (Google Gemini) turns the words you give into a short design brief: a headline, a motif and a tone. The brief is not sent anywhere else.
  • Image generation models produce the artwork from that brief and your brand kit. Output can be imperfect; every design is reviewed and chosen by the organizer before anything is ordered.
  • Slack data is never used to train models. The models are used only to generate the designs you ask for.
  • No consequential action happens without a person: the organizer picks the design, closes the size collection, and pays on a hosted checkout. The app never charges a card on its own.

Data location and payments

Data is processed and stored in the United States. Payment is taken on a hosted Shopify checkout; the app never sees card details. Orders are produced and shipped by our print partners, who receive only the design files and the shipping address for each order.
